SEED ECOLOGY V will be held in the city of Caeté, Minas Gerais, southeastern Brazil. Minas Gerais is one of the wealthiest Brazilian states and experiences fast economic growth. At the same time, is the leading state in deforestation. The state is famous for its cultural heritage related to architecture, colonial art in historical cities, hospitality, cuisine, and natural landscapes. Every year thousands of tourists are attracted to outdoor activities including hiking, rafting, and canyoning. Major economic activities in Minas Gerais are cattle farming, agriculture (mainly coffee), and iron mining. All these activities have strong environmental impact, so we want to highlight the importance of seed ecology to raising public awareness of biodiversity conservation. Following the Amazon Basin, Minas Gerais is also the largest water reservoir in the country and provides water for neighboring states and countries. The large number of hydroelectric power plants in its rivers adds to the economic importance of Minas Gerais.

The venue of the meeting will be the Hotel Tauá Resort Caeté.
