Minas Gerais is one of the states with the lowest incidence of the Zika virus. Aedes aegypti, the vetor of the Zika virus, lay eggs in and around standing water. August is mid-dry season in Minas Gerais, so the population of A. aegypti is always low due to the absence of sites for reproduction.
